Beenleigh Adult and Youth Services

The Beenleigh Adult and Youth Services (BAYS) is a project that aims to improve the choices and possibilities available to young people.

Our belief that young people are the change agents of their own life drives all of our services and projects. We encourage clients to take an active part in re-shaping their lives through respectful relationships; focused, honest and creative consultation; and timely and professional partnerships.

Our key programs are:

• Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP)
  External supported share accommodation for young people aged between 16 to 21 years and young single mothers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
• Housing Options Project (HOPS)
  Assisting people aged 16 to 25 years from the Northern Gold Cost to secure private accommodation.
• Youth & Community Combined Action (YACCA)
  Group activities and individual support for young people aged 10 to 17 years to encourage them to participate in creating positive change in their community.
• SMART POEMS
  A life-skills education program for young people aged 14 to 19, aimed at providing them with time and opportunities to become the people they want to be.
• Families Around Beenleigh (FAB)
  A range of flexible support and intervention services provided to families who are at risk of becoming homeless.
• Young Parents Support Program (YPSP)
  Support program for pregnant and parenting young people which includes antenatal and postnatal services.
• Eagleby Youth Space Program
  A safe place for young people to access support services or just come and 'chill out'. We also offer school and holiday activity programs.

BAYS also works closely with two other Wesley Mission Brisbane outreach programs for young people in and around Beenleigh:

• Youth Support Coordinator (YSC)
  This initiative is aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of at-risk young people by reducing the incidence of youth homelessness and early school-leaving.
• Youth at Risk alliance (YARA)
  In collaboration with other government and non-government agencies, YARA provides a comprehensive support service for at risk youth aged 10 - 17 years and their families.
