Since the fourth century Christians have gathered to mark Maundy Thursday as a time of remembering the Last Supper and the betrayal of Jesus. Maundy comes from the Latin mandatum novum "a new commandment".
The emphasis of the Maudy Thursday Service will be on the actions and words of Jesus as narrated in John 13, including the ending of supper at the table and the symbolism of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.

The joy we experience on Easter Day makes it easier for us to sense that God is creating new ways of being in our world. This message of resurrection and joy can enable those who know suffering to trust in the mystery of the empty tomb and to continue searching for evidence of hope and life.
