Servant Network

Responding to needs within our city

"The Spirit of God has got hold of me, and is urging me to take on a special task; to share good news with the poor; free the prisoners; help the handicapped; and smash the shackles of the oppressed." Luke 4:18-19

The Servant Network is a movement of both Christian and non-Christians who want to play a part in building a better Brisbane. It is the diaconal arm of the Albert Street Uniting Church and is supported by Wesley Mission Brisbane.

The network was established in 2004 and currently consists of three communities. The backbone of each of these communities is its volunteers, who range from professionals and students to the retired and the unemployed.

The Servant Community
 -  supporting the homeless to improve their standard of living and move into accommodation.

 The Hospitality Community
 -  providing a free, three course dinner every Wednesday evening for the lonely or isolated.

The Servants on the Margins Training Community
 -  training volunteers from the Servant Network and the wider Uniting Church.
