Grace Grace flips over Pancake Day
Pancake Day is alive and well, and living in the spiritual heart of Brisbane, Wesley Mission Brisbane’s Albert Street Uniting Church, this February 16 from 7am to 10am, with Grace Grace, state member for Brisbane Central, flipping the first pancake.
Armed with barbeques, a marquee, and a dose of goodwill and heart, volunteers from the Albert Street Church congregation will be selling pancakes to passersby on the corner of Ann and Albert Streets.
All money raised by the sale of pancakes ( $2 each) will be donated to the The Sudanese Nuer Faith Community of the Uniting Church.
Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake day, is so called because pancakes use such products such as eggs, sugar and butter, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the fasting associated with Lent. It is also called Fat Tuesday, Fastnacht day, Malasada Day, Bursting Day and Pączki Day, depending on where in the world you are.
Everyone is invited and welcome to come and share pancakes, smiles and goodwill for Pancake day in the heart of the city.
