Aged care turns to child's play

Anam Cara will officially launch their new children’s playground at a morning tea for residents, their families and children on Tuesday 23 February from 10.00am.

The playground which features a slippery slide, cubby house and noughts and crosses game has been built outside Galen House, one of the aged care communities, providing residents the opportunity to watch the children playing from the comfort of their home.

Facility Manager of Anam Cara, Mr Shawn Ringelstein said “The playground provides increased opportunities for our residents to maintain contact with children and not feel isolated from younger generations".

The playground will be officially opened by the Wheller Gardens Auxiliary, who donated the playground equipment after holding rummage sales throughout the year to raise funds to purchase larger items for Wesley Mission Brisbane’s aged care communities, and items which the communities could not fund themselves.

The playground provides visiting children with a safe area to play when visiting their grandparents.
