Birthday wishes come true at Cooper House
Wesley Mission Brisbane’s Cooper House will be celebrating their 20th birthday on Sunday 14 March 2010 with a new flagpole.
The Quest Newspaper public appeal to raise funds for a flagpole has resulted in Metropolitan Funerals donating a six metre flagpole with Abergeldie Constructions donating resources to install it. Both companies have been working closely with Cooper House staff to ensure installation by their birthday celebrations.
The Queensland flag will be officially raised at the 20th birthday celebrations by The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe, Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe originally donated the flag to the Cooper House residents.
Afterwards, residents and their family, staff and dignitaries will enjoy a Mad Hatter Tea party with entertainment provided by the Soul Sisters.
Community response to the flagpole appeal was overwhelming. Wesley Mission Brisbane staff and Cooper House residents were delighted at the response.
“Cooper House residents were thrilled a flagpole had been donated and that the flagpole would be installed in time for their celebrations. This really means a lot to them, said Jan Croft, Facility Manager.
In coming months residents will be decorating feature tiles to lay around the base of the flagpole.
The residents and staff of Wesley Mission Brisbane and Cooper House would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Quest Newspaper, to the community for their support and particularly Metropolitan Funerals and Abergeldie Constructions.
